Begin to stitch a yarn sewn piece suitable for a footstool cover, table mat, or doll house rug. This practical and decorative technique was commonly used in the 18th and 19th centuries to make hearth rugs, coverlets and mittens.

Linda Oakley has interpreted at Old Sturbridge Village for over 30 years.  She specializes in household crafts and foodways.  Join her for an in-depth look at the history, the skills and tools necessary, and the materials used then and now.
