Romantic Stay | Reviewed January 12, 2019

“We chose to stay at the Old Sturbridge Inn after the Evening of Illumination candlelight tour of the village. It was delightful! We were there for the history and the atmosphere, so we loved our room in the 18th Inn, with comfy queen size four poster bed, fireplace, wing chairs, authentic wallpaper, and lovely period-appropriate furnishings. The room also had all the modern amenities, including coffee service, wifi, cable TV, robes & slippers, and complimentary chocolate chip cookies. It was 10 degrees outside, but cozy and warm within. The folks at the desk were welcoming and knowledgeable and gave us good advice on how to access the Village without going onto the highway. The next morning there was a free continental breakfast in a lovely historic room adjacent to the office. We took time before checking out to photograph the original Rufus Porter murals on the walls outside our room, which looked beautiful next to the authentic reproduction carpeting, trim work, lanterns, etc. Everything we could wish for was provided – and it was spotless. We visited in January, but if we return in the summer months, we would enjoy their pool, fire pit, and 19th c games. Delightful! Oh – and we found out while there that spa services are available if you reserve in advance – I’d definitely add a massage to our post-village walks and talks!”

“Stayed here one night on a road trip north. After 6hrs in the car, the lodge was a welcome and perfect stay. Beautiful classic New England colonial style rooms with such an attention to details. Really appreciated all the little appointments in the rooms. Nice continental breakfast. That bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The grounds are quaint and the gardens are gorgeous. Feels like a guest house not a hotel. Front desk staff was welcoming and gave awesome recommendations for dinner. We will definitely be staying here again. Could not have been happier.”

Large Rooms and Friendly Staff | Reviewed September 2018

“Perfect place to stop on the road to Maine. The room was clean, large, decorated in Colonial style and had very comfortable bedding. It was fully equipped with a small fridge, microwave and coffee pot, Ample parking is available and the rooms are located in buildings made to look like a village. Ice and snacks are available in the main office and breakfast is served in their cute dining rooms. Nice not to go elsewhere to eat before getting on the road. A discount is offered to tour Old Sturbridge Village and there are restaurants a short distance from the Inn.The front desk staff was friendly and helpful.”

Ideal stay for wedding party

“We were in one of the cottages that each have 2 separate accommodations. Front desk, breakfast, local information all very nice. This property has been completely updated with amenities we look for – but don’t often find in a historic setting. The bridesmaids really enjoyed the cozy spa! The grounds include a swimming pool, fire-pit and walking distance to the Village and Museum. I would return without hesitation!”

Would stay again in a heartbeat! | Reviewed April 20, 2017

“Excellent accommodations for families. Clean, quiet, and well maintained rooms. Plenty of space. Perfect for families, they have a swing set that is perfect for kids to run around. Breakfast items provided were varied enough for us to start the day, but it’s the small touches that make this place stand out. Games of all kinds, suitable for all ages, are available in the office. A fire pit with chairs. A bin of outdoor and lawn games. Plenty of lightweight lawn chairs to move around to your favorite sunny or shaded spot. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, and goes above and beyond. We will be returning for sure if our travels bring us back that way.”
