NEW! FRIENDS’ DAY CRAFT CLASSES
$5 per person
Hearth Cooking: Visit the Museum Education Center and try your hand at preparing a historic ‘receipt’ over an open hearth. Using tools made by the potter, tinsmith, and blacksmith, you will prepare little cakes (what we call cookies today) and mulled apple cider to enjoy together. Go home with a historic recipe booklet to recreate a 19th-century meal in your own kitchen.
Printing and Writing: Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work in a printing office? Try a 19th-century printing press and learn about setting type. You will also create a beautiful marbled paper that was often used for book covers and end papers, and practice writing with a quill pen.
Save the Date! Next Year Friends’ Day is on Saturday, May 19th 2018.
