Forge a Cooking Trivet

Register for November 25, 2018 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm

Trivets were an essential part of Village period cookware and came in many forms. In this class, participants will have a chance to make their own trivet. This project is an exercise in welding, riveting, punching, and general forging techniques. PREVIOUS BLACKSMITHING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

Instructor:
Derek Heidemann is the Coordinator of Men’s Crafts here at OSV and has been practicing traditional methods of blacksmithing since 2001.

Fee:
$105 members; $130 nonmembers

Materials Fee:
$15 

Advisory:
Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that you do not mind ruining. Previous blacksmithing experience is required.
