Garden Weekends return to Old Sturbridge Village this July! Each weekend will be filled with hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and tours of OSV’s heirloom gardens. Visit the gardens and chat with our expert horticulturalists to learn about a few of the 400(+) heirloom varieties cultivated at the museum. Saturdays will be dedicated to all things kitchen garden, and Sundays will center on topics related to ornamentals, herbs, and native species. Learn about the 19th-century perspectives on gardening and ways to implement techniques of the past at home.

“Grow a garden that helps you grow,” Paul Rogers 1928-2019

Old Sturbridge Village’s Garden Weekend, taking place July 27-28, is dedicated in honor of Paul Rogers. Throughout the various talks hosted this weekend, we look to honor Mr. Rogers’ legacy and commemorate his vast contributions to OSV’s horticultural program. Mr. Rogers touched the lives of many through his kind and wise gardening philosophies, and his mark is carried on through the gardens that he stewarded and shaped over his many years at Old Sturbridge Village.  The Herb Garden is dedicated in his honor and serves as a living reminder of his legacy. Our staff and volunteers take great pride in caring for this garden with his teachings in mind. We thank Mr. Rogers for his lasting commitment to OSV, horticulture, and education, and hope to play a small part in remembering a wonderful mentor and gardener.
