Registration for this program opens on August 18, 2021.

Many are familiar with the tale of John Chapman, a Leominster, MA native, but few know that full story! Join us to learn about the legends surrounding Johnny Appleseed, including the influence of the Swedenborgian Church upon his life’s work, as well as his role in stewarding a rich culture of apple-growing across America. If attending the in-person program, please make sure to arrive a few minutes before the program starts in order to check-in at the Visitor Center and walk to the program location.

Garden Thyme programs are held on a select Saturday each month and are FREE for members of Old Sturbridge Village. Led by Village horticultural and agricultural staff, these programs and workshops are held at various sites and deal with a variety of plant-related themes and topics.

Please Note: All visitors and members are currently required to reserve their tickets online to manage capacity in accordance with current Massachusetts guidelines.  Your registration for the in-person Garden Thyme program covers your reservation for that day. Before visiting, please make sure to review our current visiting policies here.
