From Field to Table Weekend

Saturday, October 18, 2014 - 9:30am to Sunday, October 19, 2014 - 5:00pm

A Harvest Season Celebration

Come help us celebrate the harvest and the beautiful New England autumn. Learn how food makes its way from the farm to the table.

Meet oxen with their drivers, and see multiple teams demonstrate plowing and preparing the fields. Catch an ox plowing match.  Help with the harvest, and watch interpreters as they pickle, dry, and store food for winter.  The Cider Mill will be operating this weekend, with apples ground by ox-power on Saturday and the pulp pressed for its juice on Sunday.  You can even get in on the act with a hand-powered "cider mill."

Join our costumed interpreters as they:

  • Harvest root vegetables
  • Put the Parsonage Garden "to bed" for the season
  • Conduct garden and root cellar tours and discuss food preparation
  • Thresh and winnow grain
  • Shell and sort beans
  • Extract and bake with honey
