Explore food through experiments and cooking projects! This program will bring together 19th-century foodways and modern kitchen science. What did people in the 1830s eat in the springtime? What did they plant in their gardens?  What tools did they use in their kitchens? We will answer these questions by working with costumed historians in the Village’s gardens and households and learn all about how food was prepared and preserved in the 1830s. We’ll get hands-on experience cooking over an open hearth and conducting food-related tests.
