Gardens
11:30 a.m. Graham Crackers and Other Healthy Foods: Learn about Sylvester Graham and the healthy foods movement of the 19th century (at the Richardson Garden, #13).

1:30 p.m. Children’s Gardening Chores: Children of all ages can help with gardening chores such as watering, weeding, and pest patrol (at the Freeman Garden, #36).

2:00 p.m. A Visit to the Apple Orchards: Join a gardener for a guided tour of some of OSV’s apple collection, as well as a discussion of the importance of apples throughout New England’s history (meets at the Cider Mill, #17).

Farm
10:00 a.m. Meet the Calf (at the Freeman Farm, Building #36)

3:30 p.m. Milking Demonstration

The Carryall (weather permitting)
We offer a horse-drawn carryall ride included with the price of admission. From 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. you can board behind the Bullard Tavern (#3) or in front of the Blacksmith Shop (#39) about every 20 minutes for a ride around the Mill Pond. There is no carryall operating outside of these times.

Stagecoach
2:00-4:00 p.m. Ride the Stagecoach|$3.00 per person.

Hundreds of stagecoaches linked most towns in early New England, carrying passengers and mail on set schedules. Today the stagecoach circles our historic common. Purchase a $3.00 token at the Visitor Center or the Miner Grant Store. Picks up outside the Bullard Tavern. Please note tokens are nonrefundable. Unused tokens can be redeemed on a future visit.

10:00 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. Living By the Bell:
Recollections of about the Lowell Factory Girls by a boarding house mistress (in the Salem Towne House Garden, #16).

11:00 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. Nature Myths: Fanciful tales about how things came to be (in the Salem Town House Garden, #16).

12:00 p.m. & 3:30 p.m. Pirate Tales From New England’s Rocky Shores: Tales of swashbuckling –but nasty – pirates (in the Gebhardt Barn, Building #14).

Music Performances
10:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. Music at the Tavern: Hear a sampler of 1830s music (in the Bullard Tavern, Building #3).

11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. Musical Highlights, The Guitar: Our luthier at Old Sturbridge Village has finished reproducing a Spanish-Style guitar! Learn about the 19th-century guitar, and hear a selection of period music performed on the new instrument at the Fitch House (Building #21).

3:30 p.m. Musical Highlights, the “Hurdy Gurdy”: Listen to this strange and unusual instrument
(in the Bullard Tavern, Building #3).

Old Sturbridge Village’s new exhibit, Needle and Thread:
The Art and Skill of Clothing an Early 19th Century Family highlights the responsibilities held by rural New England housewives in constructing new garments, patching, mending, and darning worn items, and repurposing old items into new wardrobes. (in the Dennison Building, #28)

Oliver Wight Café (Building #1) (in the Oliver Wight Tavern Lobby) 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pastries & beverages.

Bullard Café (Building #3) (on the Ground Floor)
11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. A variety of lunch options and beverages.

Scoop Shop (Building # 25)
12:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Gifford’s ice cream and cold beverages available.

Miner Grant Store & Bake Shop (Building #19)
9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Stop in to buy our famous chocolate chip cookies, Joe Frogger cookies, and treats. Shop for Village-made wares, heirloom seeds, historical children’s toys and gifts, too!

Ox & Yoke Mercantile (Building #1) 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Take home a traditional rural New England treasure or locally made gift. Village-made crafts and kits, home décor, books, and more await! We stay open a bit later than the rest of the Village.

The Environmental Point of View
Woodland Walk
(#47) A short hike along Pogus Brook to a wooded viewing platform.
Pasture Walk (#49) Takes you to the top of Powder House Hill, offering views of the pastured landscape.
River Walk (#50) Best views of the Wight Dam and a peaceful setting to enjoy the Quinebaug River.

New England on Parade
Learn about the long history of parades in this region, and their many purposes. Visit all three of the exhibitions’ locations in the Visitor Center (#2C), Countryside Gallery (#40), and Armed & Equipped Militia Exhibit (#26).
