Footed, lidded six-board chest with original painted decoration and interior till. Painted decoration is on a cream colored ground, which serves to simulate stringing. Faux wood graining in cut corner panels on ends & face done in brown over cream. On ends & face faux wood panels are surrounded by bright blue which is applied over the cream. Top is entirely faux wood grained with different patterns used to suggest crossbanding. Black corner spandrels & splotches on edge. Part of a group of painted chests made in the Shaftsbury, VT area.
