Painted and decorated Sheraton-fancy style dressing table. Turned legs terminated in ovoid feet. One long drawer in main section of table. Two drawers side by side in set-back upper portion. All brass pulls original. Splash board with original brass rosettes screws into back. Case is pine. Legs are pine. Table is painted yellow with free hand and stenciled decoration in bronze powders and silver.
Pencil inscription in two hands on the back board of upper left drawer reads: “Miss Martha P. Robinson bought of Grover Spooner Oct. 13th 1835 1 Dress (sic) table $3.00 – Paid Oct 13th 1835 (in second hand) Barre, MA Given to Miss Isabella MacDonald 1878 – Died 1933. Miss MacDonald gave to Mrs. Addison Holland Bates August 1930 Newton Ctr., MA.”
