Old Sturbridge Village is an outdoor history museum presenting the story of everyday life in an early rural New England 19th-century setting. Historic homes, craft shops, mills, farms, and public buildings re-create community where authentically costumed Villagers demonstrate and discuss the daily life, work, and celebrations of early New Englanders.
Old Sturbridge Village offers a selection of themed activities that help Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts work toward the fulfillment of badge requirements. Each activity accommodates up to 10 Scouts and lasts approximately 50-90 minutes. Badge related themes include Life in Early America, Industry, Printing, Leisure Time, Museums, Citizenship, History, Patriotism, Art, Textiles, Woodworking, Crafts, Cooking, Food Preparation, Games, and Fashion.
Our Hop Into History Overnight program is an exciting adventure designed for Scouts, schools and other youth groups of up to 80 participants.
Also, sign your Boy Scout troop up for a workshop at the Village to work toward a Merit Badge in Pottery or Metalwork (blacksmithing or tinning).
Finally, our Boy Scout Day and Girl Scout Day at Old Sturbridge Village offers Scouts the opportunity to learn more about 19th-century New England and take part in hands-on Studios meeting several badge requirements. You can also join us on Scout Day (held each fall) when we welcome and offer activities to to all Scouts! Look for Boy Scout Day and Girl Scout Day each spring with Scout Day scheduled for the fall!
