Chaperone Tips
For a successful trip:
-
Encourage students to think like historians by seeking many sources of information. Read signs, observe surroundings, examine objects, and interview costumed Villagers.
-
Vary the pace of the day and encourage students to use their senses. Sit on a bench and recall something seen, heard, touched or smelled.
-
Please be sure the group is on time for lunch, activities, and departure. (Keep in mind walking time.) Times will be provided by the museum on arrival.
-
You will see endangered breeds of animals; please do not touch or feed the animals.
-
Keep the group together with you at all times. Unescorted students are not allowed in the exhibits or on the grounds.
-
Cell phones are distracting. Please keep them turned off during your visit.
-
Please do not smoke, drink, or eat in exhibit areas.
