Built by Old Sturbridge Village, 1946
Originally located on the Common (about where the Thompson Bank now is), this building is a copy of an 1849 schoolhouse on Dennison Lane, in neighboring Southbridge, Massachusetts. (The Dennison neighborhood is where pioneer James Denison [sic] first settled in the 1730s.) It was moved to current location in 1963 to make space for the Thompson Bank. It has served many purposes over the years and now serves as an informal performance space for puppet shows, music, and 19th-century character performances and stories.
