Tickets for the fireworks are now sold out.

An evening capped off by 21st-century fireworks follows a day typical of Independence Day celebrations of the 19th century. Gates re-open at 6pm with music, magic, and more on the Common. Here's what's planned:

6:00 19th-Century magic with Robert Olson as old-time magician Richard Potter
6:00-7:00 Quoits Competition (a precursor to horseshoes)
6:00-8:00 Quinebaug River Boat Ride ($5 per person; under age 3 free; 15-minute ride)
6:00-8:00 The Heritage String Band performs on the Common
6:30 Reading of the Declaration of Independence by State Senator Stephen M. Brewer (D-Barre)
6:30 Pie-eating contest for ages 8 & under
6:45 Lucky Bob the Comedic Juggler
6:45 19th-century magic with Robert Olson as Richard Potter
7:00 Pie-eating contest for ages 9-12
7:00-8:00 Sack Races
7:15 Lucky Bob the Comedic Juggler
7:30 Pie-eating contest for ages 13-18
7:30 19th-century magic with Robert Olson as Richard Potter
7:45 Lucky Bob the Comedic Juggler
7:45-8:45 Quintebrass performs in the countryside

These are activities offered in the Center Village before the fireworks begin at dusk. The Countryside opens for fireworks seating at 7:30 p.m., with seating limited to designated areas.

You are welcome to bring a picnic (alcoholic beverages may not be brought in, but beer and wine will be for sale). In addition, the following Dining & Shopping areas are open from 6:00 until...

Visiting for the day and staying for the fireworks? Plan on a buffet supper
at the Oliver Wight Tavern, served from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
