Events: Gingerbread House Contest


Gingerbread House Contest

A young visitor admires the Salem Towne House as interpreted in gingerbread by Elinor Celuzza of SturbridgeJoin the fun and start your own Christmas tradition...enter the 2nd annual Gingerbread House Contest at Old Sturbridge Village!
  • Four categories to compete in, including:
    • Family/Youth Groups
    • Adult
    • Business or Organization
    • Old Sturbridge Village buildings
  • $100.00 cash prize for first place finish in each category.
  • Special prize awarded for best of show as chosen by popular vote throughout the Twelve Nights of Christmas by Candlelight.

To register, please send us a message with your name, address, daytime and evening phone, email address, and category (family/youth group, adult, business/organization, or Old Sturbridge Village building); please include "Gingerbread Entry" in the subject line. Official Contest Rules:

  • Entries must be delivered to Old Sturbridge Village on Nov. 30 or Dec. 1, between the hours of 8:30am and 5pm.*
  • Foundation must be no larger than 24"x24" and sturdy for easy transport. 
    1/4" plywood is suggested. No cardboard.
  • Entries must be made entirely of edible materials with the exception of the foundation.
  • First place awards in each category will receive $100.00.
  • Open judging of the show will take place by the audience and the winning entrant will receive a special prize.
  • All entries will be on display during the Twelve Nights of Christmas at Old Sturbridge Village, and may not be removed before the close of the last program on Dec. 20.  Pick-up may be arranged during business hours on Dec. 21 or 22.*
  • Old Sturbridge Village is not responsible for broken or damaged houses and will not maintain or repair any entries.  Any unclaimed entries become the property of Old Sturbridge Village.

*Accommodations may be made for extending these hours with pre-approval of Event Coordinator.
