Discovery Camp
April 20 - April 21

Old Stubridge Village's Discovery Camps are Adventures in History -- give your child or grandchild a gift that will create memories for a lifetime!  All children who participate:
  • dress in 1830s costume
  • are assigned a mug and either a tin pail (boys) or a basket (girls)
  • take on the role of a real Sturbridge resident from the early 1800s
  • cook over an open hearth
  • make a 19th-century craft
  • attend school in the one-room schoolhouse
  • tour the Village and interact with costumed historians
  • enjoy an afternoon snack which includes a delicious OSV chocolate chip cookie and lemonade
  • make new friends

This engaging program takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Children are grouped with other children in their age range in groups of up to twelve, with one costumed teacher (youngest group has two teachers).  Additional camp staff works behind the scenes to prepare program space and to help with each activity.  Children may bring their own 1830s lunch or may order one from us for $15 (fee covers lunches both days).

Upcoming programs include:

Cold Months, Warm Times (Tues. & Wed., Dec. 29-30, 9am-3pm)
