| An Evening at Bullard Tavern |
Travel the candlelit path to the Bullard Tavern, on the Common in the historical Village, to experience a fireside evening meal in a 19th-century Tavern, with entertainment from early New England characters. In early New England, the country tavern was an important gateway to a world of information, entertainment, and social activity. The Hearthside Bounty at Bullard Tavern recreates an evening at an early 19th-century tavern. In addition to a bountiful repast, guests may enjoy beverages fashionable in early New England, hear tunes from an earlier time performed by a costumed interpreter, learn about period games and entertainment, and hear about table manners from the period, when it was not only polite, but necessary to eat from the knife. A reproduction 18th-century clock jack roasts beef "to a turn" in front of a roaring fire, and costumed interpreters demonstrate the preparation of delights such as pounded cheese and mulled cider. Do you care to help whip cream with a birch-twig whisk? Or just enjoy the trifle that results... The Menu Mulled Cider |
