On this day, visitors can see the Village's wood-fired kiln in action, turning the potters' "green" pottery into Old Sturbridge Village's signature redware.

During the week prior, potters load the kiln (see left), stoke the fire for a day or two until it reaches 1900 degrees Farenheit (ask the potters what happens at this magical temperature), then unload it a few days later after everything has cooled down. 

You can even sign up to spend an Evening at the Kiln at the fire's peak and experience what the potters have seen for years.
