On this day, families who visit will be given a free heirloom tomato plant (one per family, while supplies last), and related programs are planned.

Witness the sights and sounds of a re-created early 19th-century muster day, as Village militia members fire their muskets and drill and practice battle techniques on the Common. Youngsters of all ages are invited to learn to march, make a militia hat, and try on a knapsack and cartridge box.

The Village comes alive with the lost sounds and sights of 19th-century popular music and art as more than 50 singers, dancers, and musicians, and artists perform and demonstrate.

Join us for Summer Adventures! Our Summer Adventures programs are offered to children ages 6-17 from late June to mid-August. Kids can make new friends, have fun, and most of all to engage in the history of early 19th-century New England. (Formerly called Discovery and Exploration Camps.)

The museum's newest permanent exhibit, Farm, Families and Change, includes new displays in three of the Village's restored barns.  The exhibit addresses questions that resonate today:  "Where does our food come from?" and "Why does the New England landscape look the way it does?"

This exhibit will explore the changing world of childhood during the first half of the 19th century through their toys, their clothes, and their work.
