On weekend days in March, see maple sugaring as it was done in early 19th-century rural New England and learn why the final product historically was sugar, not syrup.

Experience Irish traditions when the Oliver Wight Tavern's Tap Room becomes an Irish pub, featuring Irish fare, plus storytelling and traditional Irish and Celtic music performed live.

Take a Closer Look is a monthly program open to all OSV Members. Held at 10 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month, this program invites a closer look with a Village specialist.

NEW!  These single-day non-costumed programs will lead your child down the path of adventure.  Exploration Day Camps for ages 6 to 14 are educational and fun.  Register for as few as one or as many as five days during your April school vacation week.  (Note:  This new program is offered in addition to our popular two-day Discovery Camps.)

Celebrate Patriots Day marching and drilling with the Sturbridge Militia, watching musket-firing demonstrations, enjoying martial music, seeing musket balls cast from molten metal.

Spend an afternoon on Broadway by way of Old Sturbridge Village. Enjoy lunch at the Oliver Wight Tavern followed by a direct-from-Broadway cabaret show in the Brewer Theater.

In cooperation with the American Chestnut Foundation, OSV is planting two blight-resistant chestnut trees at the top of the Pasture Walk.  Visitors are invited to attend.

On this day, families who visit will be given a free heirloom tomato plant (one per family, while supplies last), and related programs are planned.

See how wool is processed from shearing and scouring to carding and spinning, then turned into knitted or woven items. Try your hand in the Fenno textile exhibit.

Each Sunday in June, spend time in a Village garden with a knowledgeable garden interpreter and learn about traditional garden practices and historic plants.

Share in the excitement of a re-created early New England Muster Day, where the sounds of muskets and fifes & drums fill the air.

Come and see the potters fire their wares in an authentic wood-fired kiln. As the temperature rises to 1800+ degrees, the sand will melt, turning the clay into useful pottery.

What did 1830s New Englanders do for entertainment? Without reality television and movies, what kind of cultural atmosphere did they maintain and enjoy? See artists, musicians, and dancers demonstrating 19th-century art forms on this special day.

Have fun with Dad at Old Sturbridge Village on his special day.  Join a game of early New England base ball. Stop by the Hands-On Crafts Center for hands-on blacksmithing or tinmaking.  This event falls during Music & Art Weekend with special demonstrations the whole family will enjoy.

Meet Wally the Green Monster, see the Red Sox Championship Trophies, enjoy a special brunch at the Oliver Wight Tavern, take part in base ball-related activities in the Village. 

Enjoy expanded hands-on and interactive activities throughout the Village, along with family-friendly performances and entertainment. Meet the new arrivals at the farm (every day) and on Monday, April 19, meet the Militia and take part in special activities related to Patriots Day.

A new needlework exhibit in the Firearms & Textiles building focusing on young ladies' needlework and ornamental arts from the OSV collection. 

Rare antique bonnets on display in the Visitor Center and in various Village spaces.  Related demonstration on April 2, 3 & 4.

This exhibit on display through early September features rarely-seen pieces of early Massachusetts furniture from the OSV collection and on loan from private collectors.

The museum's newest permanent exhibit, Farm, Families and Change, includes new displays in three of the Village's restored barns.  The exhibit addresses questions that resonate today:  "Where does our food come from?" and "Why does the New England landscape look the way it does?"
