Demonstrations
See demonstrations until 4pm in the Small House, TinShop, Blacksmith Shop, Pottery, and Freeman Farmhouse. Also, see A Cooper at Work (9:30-11:30am; 12:30-4pm), A Shoemaker at Work (9:30am-noon), and A Printer at Work (1-4pm). Hands-On Crafts Center
Instruction by Village craftspeople; make an item to take home. Today’s offerings include:
10:00 to 12:00 Make a Tin Snowflakes ($5)
1:00 to 3:30 Dip a Pair of Candles ($5)

Some age, safety and space restrictions apply. Cash payment is accepted on site; credit cards also accepted.

This new exhibit in the Visitor Center features rarely-seen pieces of early Massachusetts furniture from the OSV collection.

Head to the Bullard Tavern to catch a ride on the reproduction stagecoach and get a feel for what travel was really like in the 1830s ($3 per person, under 3 free on adult lap). Step inside and learn about the role of taverns in the community.

See rarely-displayed drums, fifes, and related artifacts from the Village’s collections. Now open in the Firearms & Textiles building.

See items from the Village’s collections that tell stories through evidence of darning, patching, or mending. Now open in the Firearms & Textiles building.
Home Life in the 1830s

An exploratory exhibit for all ages in the Fitch House on the Common. Open the drawers, sit on the beds, imagine yourself living in an 1830s household.

The Fenno Textile Exhibit
Learn about the home production of textiles in early New England and find out what the changes in factory production meant to fashions at home and in everyday dress. Try your hand at carding wool, weaving a pattern, and piecing a quilt block with colorful tiles.
* * * Please note the horse-drawn ride around the Mill Pond, which is included with admission, runs from 10am-1pm and 2:30- 4pm, weather permitting. * * *
Enjoy a free 2nd visit within 10 days!

      Catch a ride on OSV's stagecoach, operating on weekends through November, including Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after. Get a feel for early New England travel aboard the reproduction Concord coach, then stop into the Bullard Tavern to learn about the ins and outs of getting from here to there in early New England.  (More Information)
